A Beautiful Prayer

"Ya Allah! By the essence of Your Godhood! By all Your matchless and incomparable Attributes! Do not shut my eyes from the face of blissfulness, and do not bind my tongue at the time of acknowledging Your Oneness whilst dying. Illuminate my path with the lamp of true faith, and restrain me from committing evil. Divert my eyes from what should not be seen, and do not give me the power to do what is wrong.

Ya Allah! By Your Glory! Do not degrade me, and do not humiliate me with the disgrace of sin. Do not impose upon me a person like myself, as it is better to suffer chastisement at Your Hands. In the world, there is no evil worse than suffering cruelty at the hands of someone like oneself. Being put to shame before You is sufficient for me. So do not humiliate me before others.

Ya Allah! I do not ask You to give me position and status, but implore You to forgive my failures and sins. Nobody has seen a blacker record than mine, as I have no virtuous deeds to offer. All I have is only confidence in Your Succour and faith in Your Forgiveness. I have brought with me no provisions but hope. Ya Allah! Do not disappoint me by not pardoning me."
